Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 28 October 2026
TrainSmarter (“the Service”, “we”, “us”) is operated by Nischal Mohan, sole proprietor of TrainSmarter, based in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. These terms govern your use of the Service at trainsmarter.in and its mobile web app. By creating an account you agree to them.
1. What the Service is
TrainSmarter is workout and nutrition tracking software for personal trainers and their clients. Trainers build workout and meal plans, track client progress, and manage their client roster. Clients log workouts, meals and body measurements, and see plans their trainer has set for them.
We are a software provider. We do not employ, certify, supervise or vet trainers, and we are not a party to whatever coaching arrangement exists between a trainer and their client outside the app.
2. Accounts
An account is created with a phone number and password, and you must be 18 or older. Where phone verification is switched on, we confirm the number by sending a one-time code by SMS, and one phone number can belong to one account only. You are responsible for keeping your login details private and for anything done from your account. Tell us if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.
There are two kinds of account: trainer and client. A client account is created either directly or by accepting a trainer’s invite; a client’s health and activity data is visible to the trainer they are attached to, for as long as that attachment lasts, and for 30 days afterwards (read-only), because that visibility is the product.
3. If you are a trainer
- You are responsible for the advice, workout and nutrition plans you give. We do not check them.
- Only add people you genuinely coach, and only with their agreement. A client accepts your request before you can see any of their data.
- Treat client data as confidential. Use it to coach that client and for nothing else; do not copy, share or sell it.
- Do not give medical or diagnostic advice unless you are qualified to, and do not present TrainSmarter as endorsing your qualifications.
- Once a client leaves you, stop using their data for anything beyond a record of the coaching you gave them. Your access to that client’s history ends automatically 30 days after they leave; do not keep copies beyond that.
4. How payment works
Trainers pay TrainSmarter directly, in advance, to fund a bank of “training days” used to add and coach clients. Every new trainer receives 45 free days once, on signup. Further days are bought in bundles shown on our Pricing page.
Clients are never charged for being coached — that is funded by their trainer’s day balance. A client may optionally buy their own plan to use the do-it-yourself plan builder and templates while they are not currently attached to a trainer; this is entirely optional.
Payment is made by UPI through our payment gateway partner Razorpay, which confirms it automatically and acts on our behalf; your days or access are added within moments of the payment going through. We do not accept or store card details.
Early access prices. Prices on the Pricing page and in the app are early access prices, shown beside the regular price. We may end the offer or change prices at any time; the price you see and pay at checkout is the price you are charged, and a later change does not affect a purchase you have already made.
5. Refunds and unused balance
Purchases are non-refundable once confirmed. Full detail, including what happens when a client is released mid-way through a paid window, is in our Refund & Cancellation Policy.
Unused training days expire. Once a trainer has made at least one purchase, their entire day balance expires 2 years after their most recent purchase if left unspent. A balance made up only of the free signup days (no purchase yet made) expires 6 months after being granted. Making a purchase resets the clock for the whole balance. We may give notice before this policy or its terms change for existing balances.
6. Referrals
Trainers may refer other trainers using a personal referral link. A referral pays out in free days only once the referred trainer has actually paid us — never on signup alone: you earn 30 bonus days when they make their first purchase, and 10% of every purchase they make, for life. The referrer can see when the trainer they referred tops up and how many days, but nothing about that trainer’s clients or workouts. Referral rewards are credited as ordinary training days, subject to the same expiry rule above, and we may withhold or reverse a reward we reasonably believe was obtained fraudulently (for example, self-referral through a second account).
7. Acceptable use
- Don’t use the Service to harass, defraud, or impersonate anyone.
- Don’t attempt to bypass payment, access another account, or interfere with the Service’s normal operation.
- Don’t upload content you don’t have the right to share.
- A trainer must have a genuine basis for the coaching relationship implied by adding a client — the Service is not a general social network.
We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, or that we reasonably believe poses a fraud or abuse risk (including referral or free-day abuse).
8. Health & fitness disclaimer
TrainSmarter is a tracking and planning tool, not medical advice, and we do not review or approve the workout or nutrition content a trainer creates. Consult a doctor before starting any new exercise or nutrition programme, particularly if you have an existing health condition. You use any plan, workout or nutrition guidance in the app at your own risk.
9. Your data
What we collect and how we use it is described in our Privacy Policy and our Data Notice. You can delete your account yourself at any time under Profile → Account → Delete my account; see the Privacy Policy for what that removes.
10. Closing an account
You may stop using the Service whenever you like, and delete your account yourself from the app at any time. We may suspend or close an account as described under Acceptable use. Closing or deleting an account does not refund unused paid days, as explained in the Refund & Cancellation Policy.
11. Our liability
The Service is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any injury, loss of data or indirect loss arising from your use of the Service or from any plan or advice a trainer gives, and our total liability to you for anything else is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits any right you have under law that cannot be limited by contract.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the Service changes. Material changes affecting active paid balances will be notified in the app or by the contact details on file for your account. Continued use after a change means you accept the update.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and any dispute is subject to the courts of Bengaluru, Karnataka.
